About Albetuck

Albetuck Land Development in Jarvisburg, NC

Albetuck Land Development is a land clearing, septic, and site work company based on Caratoke Highway in Jarvisburg, North Carolina. Most of our work happens on the Outer Banks and the mainland just behind it, and most of it still comes to us the way it always has, which is one customer telling another that we did right by them.

Clay Newbern grew up in this business. His father ran F&H, a local company that started in the 1980s doing septic systems, site work, and land clearing across this same stretch of coast. Clay was riding along and working on job sites by the time he was five years old, and he has been doing the same kind of work every year since. After his father passed, the family started over under a new name. Albetuck Land Development opened in December 2021 and picked up where F&H left off, with the same trades, the same equipment knowledge, and a lot of the same customers.

That history matters for a practical reason. Land on the Outer Banks does not behave like land anywhere else. The sand, the water table, the wind, and the way lots are laid out between the sound and the ocean all change how a job has to be approached. Forty years of working in it teaches you things that no amount of equipment can substitute for.

Range

Nothing Too Small, Nothing Too Big

Ask Clay how he decides which jobs to take and the answer is short: nothing too small, nothing too big. He will admit he has a hard time saying no. In practice that means a homeowner who needs a half-acre lot mulched and a builder who needs a lot cleared, graded, utilities run, a house pad built, and a septic system installed are both worth a phone call.

That range is not a marketing line, it is how the company is actually built. We clear land and run forestry mulching. We install septic systems. We do site work, roads, utilities, and house pads. We demolish structures. We haul sand and rock out of our own sand pit and deliver material. Because all of that sits under one roof, a project does not have to get handed off from one outfit to the next between phases, and nobody is standing around waiting on a subcontractor who is booked out three weeks.

A Small Crew That Has Been at It a While

Albetuck runs with six to seven people. That is on purpose. It is a big enough crew to run multiple pieces of equipment on a site and finish a phase on schedule, and small enough that Clay is on the job himself and knows what is happening on every property we are working.

One of the goals he is most direct about is keeping those people busy. He wants to be able to guarantee his crew a full forty to fifty hours a week, every week. That is worth mentioning here because it explains something about how the company operates. A crew that stays together does better work than one that turns over every season, and steady work is what keeps a crew together.

Rooted in the Same Ground We Work

The Newberns are not a company that moved into this market. Alongside the land development work, the family farms roughly two thousand acres in the same area, and we operate our own sand pit, which is where a lot of the sand and fill we haul comes from. When we tell a customer what the ground on their lot is likely to do, it is because we have been in that dirt for decades.

It also means we are easy to find. We are not a phone number routed through a call center in another state. The office is on Caratoke Highway, the trucks are white and red, and if you have lived here a while you have probably passed our equipment on a job.

Working With Us

How We Work With Customers

Estimates are free. Call or send us the details of the property and what you are trying to accomplish, and we will come look at it. We would rather walk a piece of ground than guess at it over the phone, because what a lot needs is usually clear in about ten minutes of standing on it.

Our hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Most of our work is residential, and we are actively taking on more commercial and builder work. We currently accept cash and check.
